Faroese sensation FRUM releases album ‘Whirlpool’

FRUM's album "Whirlpool" dives deep into the ever-spinning motions of life and the universe, capturing them in sound. The album is an immersive piece that blends experimental electro-pop with raw emotion, inviting listeners on a journey through transformation, connection, and renewal.

The Faroese artist, Jenný Kragesteen, has spent years crafting "Whirlpool". Wanting to have female producers represented on the album—a conscious decision to support and amplify female voices in music production, she shaped it through personal experiences and creative exploration. Across eight songs, framed by an intro and an outro, FRUM balances delicate introspection with pulsating rhythms, mirroring the push and pull of existence. The result is an album that feels both deeply intimate and expansively universal.

Earlier this year, FRUM introduced the world to the sonic universe of "Whirlpool" through the singles 'Rise', 'Whirlpool', and now 'Cycle'. More music is on the horizon in 2025, as she continues to evolve and push boundaries within her distinct musical realm.

The past four years have taken FRUM from the dramatic landscapes of Iceland (Akureyri) to the creative pulse of Norway (Bergen), where she has written and produced new music. These surroundings have infused her sound with a cinematic quality—layered, atmospheric, and deeply connected to nature and movement.

Since the start of her career in 2016, FRUM has always sought to reach beyond borders. In 2017, she toured China, performing for audiences far from home. She has since taken the stage at Reeperbahn Festival, opened for Morcheeba, and had her music featured in Netflix productions and H&M stores worldwide. Each of these experiences has shaped her artistic voice, fueling the creation of Whirlpool.

With this release, FRUM steps into a new era—one that is boundless and reflective, spinning forward while remaining rooted in emotion and storytelling. Whirlpool is more than an album; it’s an experience, an invitation to drift, dance, and dive deep into the cycles that shape us all.

About FRUM
FRUM is the artist project by Jenný Kragesteen, a Faroese musician known for her ability to push the boundaries of experimental pop music, with her distinctive sound that blends ethereal vocals, intricate production, and deeply personal storytelling.

Growing up in the Faroe Islands, close to breaking waves and green mountains, Jenný released her first single “Birdstone” in 2016. This was followed by a number of singles and striking visuals and music videos. She quickly attracted international interest, resulting in showcase gigs at Reeperbahn Festival, a support show for Morcheeba, and gaining placements on the H&M in-store playlist and Netflix productions.

Then life happened. Jenný became a mother, moved to Iceland, but did not take it slow. She continuously worked on her art and focused on recording her debut album, “For The Blue Sky”, which was released on hfn music in 2022. With ‘Rise’, FRUM gives us an anticipation of new music material filled with a fresh Nordic take on electro-pop and personal stories that one easily relates to. Her music videos, often directed, styled and edited by herself, complete her universe, of which you will crave to be a part of.
