Italian musician and producer SACROBOSCO releases third album ‘Apes + Tigers’
After the debut in 2021 with Both Sides Of The Sky (Sussidiaria) and the success in 2023 of the twin albums IVXVI and IXVXI (Trovarobato), musician and producer Giacomo Giunchedi aka SACROBOSCO returns to the scene by founding his own record label, Antinational Noise, which after curating the work of various electronic music projects lends itself to the release of his next yet third album Apes + Tigers, officially out on May 9th, 2025 with the distribution of Audioglobe.
This work grew out of a cycle of recordings that evolved during the promotional live shows of the 2023 albums, in which the drafts of Apes + Tigers often served as a link between the tracks on the set list, providing sound dilations alternating with complex rhythmic sections. In this very context comes to life the fundamental collaboration with Paolo Raineri, Ottone Pesante trumpet player known for his work with Calibro 35 and Iosonouncane, whose contribution has helped expand the sound towards jazzcore territories, as seen for example in the tracks Tender and Where the Mighty Tiger Lies, born precisely from moments of improvisation between the two musicians, in a continuous dialogue of impulse and experimentation that gives renewed energy to the project, taking it to an even more intense and dynamic level. Built on dense and layered lo-fi foundations, which verge on the concept of Hauntology, the new album evokes the sounds of the cassette mixtape in order to pay tribute to the deep connection experienced in adolescence with the Walkman, replicating the magic of overdubbing on tape, a unique mechanism that allowed traces of previous recordings to persist as haunting echoes. The result is a true multidimensional narrative in which ghostly sounds and fragments of forgotten tracks suddenly resurface like spectres, enriching the atmosphere with moments of ambient suspension dominated by crackles, noises and diaphanous voices that seem to emerge from parallel dimensions, intertwining with each other in a surreal texture.
The record's artwork, developed by Ivan Pjevcevic, depicts a multicolored tiger embodying the visual synthesis of this experience: a primordial force that emerges from the depths of sound and, like music, shatters and regenerates into a multitude of nuances, symbolizing the power of a musical narration that never stops transforming.
With Apes + Tigers, Sacrobosco redefines the boundaries of listening by transforming sound elements into a dreamlike mosaic of suggestions and reminiscences, giving rise to an immersive listening experience where time dissolves and sound becomes living memory, capable of bringing back sensations long faded but never forgotten. A journey into the past, but also a reflection on the present and the infinite possibilities of the future.
