Paris creative singer/songwriter Aime Simone releases third album ‘REV’

Paris-born singer/ songwriter, producer and creative, Aime Simone releases his highly anticipated new album REV – out now. 

His third studio album, and most ambitious and conceptually rich project to date, REV; combines the emotional and melodic depth of pop music with the intensity of trap and club beats. Carrying multiple meanings, such as revving an engine, revolution, revenge, revelation and rêve (‘dream’ in French), each interpretation is woven into the tapestry of the album, which unfolds in the way of a modern myth. Each track explores a unique account through Aime’s alter egos, inspired by authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, James Joyce, and Shirley Jackson. A true storyteller, Aime Simone explores the story of a fallen angel with a vengeance for revolt, with a central character introduced in the first single “TAKING MY DISTANCE”. The album promises a deep exploration of themes like duality and transformation whilst musically marking a significant evolution for Aime, incorporating elements of rap, punk, and witch house whilst staying rooted in his signature post-pop sound.

Opening the album “BLACK + WHITE” catapults us into a new world of menacing and dream-like production. Built on inverted guitars and choirs, Aime narrates the tale of an angel enduring the relentless pressures of a role that feels increasingly hollow. A melancholy, introspective mood prevails, filled with saturated vocals and heavy trap drums, echoing the realization that he is immersed in a world of conformity. Reminiscent of a siren alarm “TAKING MY DISTANCE”, is propelled by frantic percussive rhythms and infused with rock energy via trap beats with the pulse of an 808–– resulting in a dynamic and intense blend of aggression. Capturing a key moment of transformation in the REV storyline, the track explores the grappling internal conflicts and a growing rebelliousness, that comes with choosing authenticity and self-discovery over a hollow existence. At the heart of the story’s setting, “FAST CITY” combines cinematic production and incisive, hard-hitting vocals conveying the fire and rage of revolution. Techno-infused drum machines lay the tracks energetic soundscape as rock guitars and other-worldly synths create a dystopian bed for Aime Simone’s catchy pop-inspired melodies. “For a moment they got me down and bitter. They’re gonna see now I’m revving up” Aime sings as a powerful promise of his capabilities. In the albums first official single “IN MY BLOOD” the rising talent tackles the subject of adversity, retelling the memories of every battle fought and the etches in the flesh of its characters. The songs liberating tribal beat and expressive guitars guide the listener through a chilling soundscape of synthesizers whilst howling vocals are blended with purposeful rap to create a cathartic and introspective piece. With its frenzied piano hammering against a tantalising RnB beat, focus track “DEVIL DONE” recounts the intense dialogue between Aime and an inner demon that taunts him whilst soulful vocals sit perfectly as the melodies build towards the track’s haunting choruses. Bringing the album to a close “EVIL FOR GOOD” is an atmospheric auditory panorama combining layers of synths with Aime’s impressive and expansive vocal range as he sings “Love out of sight, in the gutter, left to die, but I’m here. But I’m here for you.” In an emotional and heartfelt finale.
